HC-One has opened £12m Bluebell View Care Home in Oswestry, Shropshire, providing residential, dementia and nursing care to older people.

The 80-bedroom setting is around half-a-mile to the southeast of the town centre and has been developed in conjunction with contractor Greenchurch Developments.

It is a three-storey home that features residents’ lounges, reading rooms and a reception and bar area, along with gardens with courtyards. It will create around 90 jobs when it reaches full occupancy.

Paintings by local artist Richard Briggs are displayed in reception and communal areas to make residents and visitors feel at home.

Bluebell View is the latest home to be built in HC-One’s new build programme, which saw three homes open in 2021 (in York, Bingham, and Telford), with another set for Milton Keynes later this year.

This is complemented by HC-One’s wider £93m in its refurbishment and upgrade programme to modernise more than 200 of its existing care homes.

‘I look forward to showcasing our new state-of-the-art beautiful care home and what it has to offer the local community. I am confident that the team will make a huge difference in the local community and enrich the lives of residents living at Bluebell View,’ said Michelle Middleton Price, home manager at Bluebell View Care Home.

‘At HC-One, we strive to be the first-choice care provider for residents and colleagues in every community we serve. As the first HC-One home in the Oswestry area, I’m looking forward to working with more talented colleagues in the local area to provide the kindest possible care to older people in the local community in our welcoming new home.’
